March Madness: Life as Aunt K8

After returning from 6 nights in Chicago and 5 nights in Dallas, it was 'bout time I return to my favorite role in Norman, OK (let alone life)....Aunt Kate!My "nieces and nephews" just couldn't handle their excitement when they saw me. Screams. Jumps. Smiles. Hoorays. I loved every minute of their crazed welcome greeting. (Note to Jesus: Why can't I find a 35 year old (heterosexual) male to be this excited to see me?)
It was SO nice to see these little people that I treasure and adore.
Their parents made a lovely dinner and listened as I recounted the madness of March...and that was only March 15th. My Norman family of irreplaceable friends is truly one of the blessings in my life I'll never understand why I'm so lucky to have.

After four nights at The Weymouth and time for me to reintroduce myself to my office team, it was time to head south. Again. Baby Brooks continues to eat, grow, and be a very good NICU guest. While Brooks and his parents began kangaroo care, big brother Duncan and I decided to make the most out of his Pottery Barn chair box.
Yes, at 33 years young I sat in a cardboard box.
What we'll do to entertain a 19 month old.

March 20: Duncan had the date of this lifetime...
with Aunt Lori....
and Auntie Kate!
Can you hear this little man saying "cheeeessseeee?" Can't tell you how this little man warms our hearts as we pray our hearts out for Brooks. Bless be the day I get to take both of these little men to lunch! Even better....when they take me to lunch as their beloved Aunt Kate!

It took me nearly 4.5 hours to return to Norman that March 21.
Typically, I travel that same distance in 2.5 hours. I was fit to be tied. Whatever that means....I was it. As I feel asleep that night I was thinking why. Why did it take me SO long to get home? After 15 years, I've never been on the road that long. The next morning it hit me. The challenging roads we travel are not (usually ever) by our choice, but how we handle the road is. My friends and their little prince have a long road....but blessed are we to walk it together with one another, and most importantly Him.
