Aside from my own celebrations (aka: clueless me going to award ceremonies - only to leave each one with a certificate in hand and a swelling heart), I've shared in the celebrations for many others this crazy April. March might have been truly maddening, but April is just simply crazy.
The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents deemed April 15th...Paul Massad Day for his 50 years of service to our dear OU Family. Paul Massad was my FIRST boss at OU while I worked as a student assistant in Alumni Affairs from 1996-1999 for Mr. Paul. In May 1999, it was Mr. Paul who so encouraged me to stay just a year after graduation to work for OU.
I couldn't be MORE grateful for Paul. Neither could our University Family.
Paul has touched SO many lives...always living the OU mission.
Thanks to Paul, I have so much of what I have today.
The celebration also included my SECOND OU boss, Catherine!
I worked for Catherine from 1999-2002 in our Special Events Office.
Truly some of the hardest work I've ever done (outside of that Dallas based Bakery I treasure) - and the most educational as well. I learned a great deal per Catherine...I continue to rely on so many of those lessons today.
I lift my glass (currently diet coke) to both Catherine and Paul.
Both of them were preparing me for my OU service long before I knew what business cards would wear my name. I thank them both for the reality I know today...I am blessed beyond measure by the University I call my alma mater, my employer, and my family.
